Dubbel beer has a lovely roundness achieved through a skillful blend of three grains (spring barley, wheat, and oats). Its aromatic and spicy notes come from its hops and the use of orange peel added to the wort at the end of the boil.

The legacy of Dubbel and Tripel beers comes from the history of Belgian brewers who developed ranges of beers with different alcohol percentage. In fact, as brewers of the time were unable to precisely determine the alcohol percentage of their beer, they indicated its strength to their distinguished guests and customers using the terms Dubbel, a beer stronger than a simple one, and Tripel, a blonde beer stronger than the Dubbel, both rich in flavour.
